got another letter in the mail
a space capsule
with bad tidings
but I’ve got some dogs
and they’ve never heard of
unhappy endings
what a pair

got another silver tooth
combed my hair back
passed out pamphlets on
how to lose
but I don’t own a mirror
so I’m comfortable with the blues

got lost in the shower
used detergent on the skin
so I can see myself in the dark
finally a different hand
than my own

got your last voicemail
printed and I put
it on my finger
and the men at the pawnshop
want to know
what I’m willing to trade
for it
well nothing they’ve got
so I laugh to prevent
another sound
barking out from my lips

it was a sob honey
dull edged and short

got my last pack of cigarettes
I’m smart you see
ain’t trying to die on my
kids before they learn to
climb and get the sun in their eyes

don’t got lust for anyone around
so I stay inside
make my own dance floor
while house sitting
crawling on my knees
to pick up speed

got some thoughts
about where we could move
oh I’m so tired of the south
got some thoughts on how
to avoid being followed

got another day with my own voice
and I promise to the rocking chair
tomorrow I’ll be quicker
and a little louder
maybe not so prone to hiding
honey blues
honey coconut
honey eyes
and I got some thoughts
on it being rigged
