wander the streets
finding parties
half empty
crowded with furniture
stacked on its head
taking up the space
in the most private chambers
lie down on a strange bed
forget the evening prayers
see the room
eat up the night
when the sun comes
it’ll shake the sleep
from our eyes
and we’ll wonder
when we first met
and if we were anything other
than two spinning tops
that loved to bounce off the other
in the morning
we kneel over the toilet
in light sent from god
ask for our ribs
to be given to someone else
our hearts too heavy
too lonely to be contained
in a bone prison
there’s tea and cake
we smell like sex
but it’s just sweat
we look out from our castles
and cry for the time
our bodies were smiling arches
crossing the other
penetrating the darkness
man loves more than his
own desolation
I bruise and cry
like a Christian in a dim
sanctuary
now my old flame hates me
and now we hate our eyes
even when they’re closed
I see her
so long
so long
so long
