he meant
i might have fixed it

one or the other
but his teeth kept
falling out
i didn’t know what to do
so i kept them in a bag
with his initials on them

it didn’t feel right
nothing ever did
it didn’t feel wrong

got a new set of teeth
showed them off to his baby
i didn’t know what to do

i stored his old life
away in a ziplock bag

he saw it all in his
tired bones
