there was a soccer game
rumbling inside
I could hear it
passing through the crack
between the door and the seal

I shook my collar furiously
as the same bug crept up
and down
my back

but I don’t leave my watch
on the porch
instead
i light another cigarette
and drain the coffee
feeling the heat in my head
