when I call to ask a question
if it’s benign
she will talk for an hour
telling me this and that
about how I’m living wrong
how I should take her advice
or come live with her

when the question, demand
isn’t benign
if it’s serious
she feigns exhaustion
and swears she will return
my call in the next day

days pass and I give her a ring
to ask her some stupid question
about what matches with what
or what tea she likes best
and she talks for an hour
