with a rat in her teeth
well my brother
laughs
throws the bleeding thing
away
and flips the cat
over onto her back
she arches her neck
he calls her a
“little lioness”

he’s not half wrong

he’s proud
of a cat that has
blood in its fur
more than it has water
or pieces of food
