i woke up last year
on the laundry room floor
in the apartment complex basement

she woke up last wednesday
on her parent’s sofa
in a different state
realized she sold the couch
some time ago

time was our stupid love
we nursed it from death
and when it started sputtering
again and kept up its
coughing fits
we finally put it to sleep
