I ain’t never seen her like that. I ain’t never seen her like that - a walk around to the back or meet under the porch - the tide comes in, tires bury in gravel - swivel on a neck - i ain’t never seen her like that - hold tight

hope tight
hold right

the tide rolls in
the tide rolls in
kids jump off the balcony
splash in the pool
the ride rolls in
met underneath a porch

there’s knocking on the door

“I feel like I’ve just been born
I feel myself give birth
to an infant
and I burst at the seams
but I hear the tide
and I hold tight
for a little bit longer
well maybe that’s what I am:
a breaking of a wave
and a kiss taken
with cobwebs as starlight
I’m either a tunnel or
a child”
