I was afraid of a number for some time

to see it everywhere or just as an eclipse

but what could I have done but blind myself?

At last, I eliminated my faith in seeing something

bigger or stronger than doubt.

Then it wasn’t about numbers -

my high school years

the times high in a study

trying to find god.

Some years later

I would put on the same shirt

and steady myself on the bedpost.

buzzing in my ears

what difference would it make?

all my years

if it’s read at night

what difference does it make
