remember when your grandfather

passed and you came to Austin

and you sobbed outside that

movie theater on the west side?

well i’ve tried to be as tactful

as you back then since

my grandfather passed

and have taken up crying outside

grocery stores, bars, the dentist,

my job, my father’s patio, my car

at 3pm and my car at 12am.

i’m working up to the theater.
