The night doesn’t come when it’s supposed to.
The animals rest while I sweat.
Tangled in my sheets, I mistake a
love’s embrace.
The whiskey doesn’t soothe like it should.
My back is in knots over fear
Keeps me awake.
I watch the moths at my window.
They fade in the light of dawn.
And it doesn’t come soon enough.
Food just to keep my clothes on.
My hands grasp like claws at the lamp.
I just prove my room is empty.
And
My dreams are of my parents and their love.
And I can barely breathe in the summer
in my room
