1094
I woke up this morning
my head across the tracks
eating dirt and flies
half buried in the field
it was screaming
and begging for a piano
player to keep it company
a woman in all black
it told me
“I’ll call her my baby
show all my tricks -
look at me spin”
and I obliged
rolled out a grand piano
over the weeds and stones
staked it down beside my head
“what else do you have?”
so I put on a dress and
donned a mannequin head
stumbled to the seat
and fumbled against the keys
“yes yes that will do
keep going”
it rolled over and spit
a flower out of its mouth
I plucked it
put it up my sleeve
it disappeared into the black
“yes yes what else do you
have for me?”
and I sang
a rasping plaster song
“yes yes but what else
but what else is there?
what else do you have?”
